In 2024, the founding board added the following voices to the nonprofit organization:
Carlos Torres
Carlos heads the contemporary art aspect to the forthcoming museum project, bringing the best multi media art work created by current tattoo artists.
Juan Puente
Juan Puente’s tattooing career spans more than three decades. He has tattooed all over the world and has worked alongside many of the very best in the field.
Kevin Johnson
Tattoo Collector and successful business man, Kevin guides the organization towards it's goal to becoming a self sustaining operation.
"Henk" Schiffmacher
Also known as Hanky Panky, is considered an expert within the field of tattoo, having curated exhibitions, written books, and presented television shows on the subject.
Antonio Mejia
In addition to his normal board duties, Antonio will also focus and lead the creation of our indigenous tattoo exhibits and studies.
Josh Chelser
A former professional baseball player, Josh Chesler is now one of the nation’s top tattoo historians and experts. With experience in marketing and communications as well as music and culture journalism, Josh was responsible for the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County’s Tattoo exhibit among numerous other tattoo-based exhibitions, galleries, and displays. He and his award-winning written work have appeared in dozens of local, national and global publications ranging from NBC, ESPN and LA Times to Playboy, SPIN and Hustler. He is also a co-founder of Suits x Boots, a group facilitating more revenue opportunities to help artists sustainably support themselves.
Dr. Sam Belkin, Ph.D.
Professor Sam Belkin is helping with grant work and formation of a research program in partnership with universities. His studies include popular culture, digital communications, tattoos/body modifications, identity, stigma, art, and sport.
Sam holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Leicester, a master’s degree in sociocultural anthropology from Northern Arizona University, and an undergraduate degree in anthropology and art from the University of Miami.
